The Meaning of Karuna


Karuna is a Sanskrit word that means compassionate action, the natural response that arises when we recognize our shared humanity and interconnectedness. In both Hindu and Buddhist traditions, Karuna reflects the understanding that easing suffering in one place supports healing everywhere.

Karuna Reiki® builds on this principle by focusing on healing that is guided by both compassion and wisdom. The work emphasizes discernment, presence, and appropriate action, offering support that meets people where they are rather than imposing change.

In Karuna Reiki®, healing is offered with an awareness that compassion without clarity can become overwhelming, and wisdom without compassion can become distant. Together, they create a balanced, effective approach to healing that honors both the individual and the larger whole.

Holy Fire III - Karuna® Reiki Master Class


Holy Fire® III Karuna Reiki® is an advanced Reiki training offered through the International Center for Reiki Training (ICRT). Known for its gentle yet powerful nature, this work supports purification, emotional healing, empowerment, and spiritual clarity.

Karuna is a Sanskrit word meaning compassionate action. In this training, compassion is paired with wisdom, discernment, and presence, allowing healing to unfold in a way that is both effective and respectful. The energy works quietly but deeply, often touching layers of healing that are ready to be addressed at the Master level.

During this course, you will learn eight Karuna Reiki® symbols and how to work with them in a grounded, integrated way. These symbols support healing related to emotional trauma, fear, addiction, relationships, identity, and long-held patterns, as well as opening the heart, grounding the body, and strengthening connection to inner guidance.
Karuna Reiki® also supports personal growth, emotional maturity, creativity, and a broader sense of compassion, not only for others, but for yourself.

World Peace Karuna Reiki®This training includes the World Peace Karuna Reiki® energy, which builds upon Holy Fire® III with a focus on cultivating peace within yourself and extending that peace outward into the world.

You will experience the River of Peace and World Peace Ignition, which support a deepening relationship with stillness, clarity, and inner balance. These experiences also prepare you to teach the World Peace Karuna Reiki® system, should you feel called to share it.

What This 3-Day Master Training IncludesThis is an immersive, experiential training with ample time for practice, integration, and receiving healing. The course includes:
  • Learning and working with all eight Karuna Reiki® symbols
  • Practice giving and receiving Karuna Reiki® sessions
  • Holy Love and River of Peace experiences
  • Four Holy Fire® III Karuna Reiki® Master Ignitions, including the World Peace Ignition
  • Exploration of the Authentic Self and release of conditioned identity patterns
  • Techniques for working with and clearing energetic attachments
  • Guided exploration of higher states of consciousness
  • Chanting and toning with Karuna Reiki® to support vibrational healing
  • Training in how to teach Karuna Reiki® and all levels of Reiki within the Holy Fire® system

Upon completion, you will be a Registered Holy Fire® III Karuna Reiki® Master with the ICRT and qualified to teach all levels of Reiki, including Karuna Reiki®. You will receive official manuals, certificates, and authorization to issue ICRT student certificates.

This training is intended for experienced Reiki Masters who feel ready to deepen their work, refine their presence, and engage with Reiki at a more mature, compassionate level.
