Say Edina, and those who are savvy and know the Minneapolis area know that Edina equates to luxury. There are more million-dollar homes in Edina than any other place in the twin cities, and the average price of a home is a staggering 550,000 dollars. Seventy-five percent of Edina residents own their own home, with only 25 percent choosing to rent.
Edina is a collection of 45 different communities so depending upon which neighborhood you talk about, your mileage may vary. The most expensive homes tend to be in West Edina, in Indian Hills, Hilldale, Rolling Green, and Parkwood Knolls, as well as the exclusive Northeast areas of Country Club and Sunnyslope.
One reason why people are attracted to Edina is the shopping. Shops such as the Galleria and others offering high-end luxury goods like Louis Vitton and Coach, Edina has shopping that brings the Rodeo drive experience to customers without having to fly to Las Angeles. And Edina has plenty of fabulous, 4-star restaurants as well. It's safe to say that no other Twin cities locale offers as much ethnic variety as Edina.
Besides the high-class amenities, Edina has stellar schools. This upscale community demands it, and the school district delivers. In fact, in 2014, Edina high school was named not only the best high school in Minnesota but one of the top 200 schools in the U.S. Besides great schools, great restaurants, and shopping, Edina has two fantastic
golf course in the Braemer and Edina Country Club. The Braemer golf course is public, and one of the best public golf courses in the nation. Meanwhile, the Edina Country Club provides world-class golf as well as fantastic tennis courts.
While Edina does have a lot of expensive real estate, and if you have several million dollars to spare, Edina Realtors can accommodate you, it is possible if you look hard enough, to find homes in the $300,000 range, which are about part for Minnesota as a whole.
So you don't exactly have to be rich to live in Edina, and both the rich and the middle class seem to get along very well. Living in Edina, there seems to be a sense of a small community, and it has a more homey feel to it than other suburban areas. And Edina, is close to everything, with the vibrant downtown Minneapolis only 20 minutes away.
