CAN I REALLY DO THIS?
I completed an intense weekend of Reiki Training. It was exhilarating, exciting, exhausting and I was ready to begin. But where and how?
My first treatment (other than practicing on my son over the weekend) happened immediately after my training. I had a meeting scheduled with my now dear friend, Kit. When I called to confirm our appointment, she told me she needed to cancel as she was sick with the flu. Almost automatically, I asked if she'd like me to give her a Reiki Treatment (complimentary). Luckily, she was familiar with Reiki and jumped at the offer. I was nervous and excited to test out my new skills, but felt a bit unprepared. I had no table, no iPhone to stream music, no stool. What I did have, was a clear intention. I wanted to make Kit feel better, help her rest and speed up her recovery.
As I began the treatment I was self conscious, hoping I could actually do this, hoping it would work. I remember the instant I placed my hands near the top of her head. I felt this gentle flow of energy, and my hands got very hot. Setting my concerns aside and focusing on my intention I continued with the treatment. My thoughts quieted, a calmness took over and I was guided through the remainder of the session. Much to my surprise, giving a treatment was much like receiving a treatment. Kit felt like she was floating, her body aches subsided and she felt rested. Reiki supports the body's natural healing process. She slept well that night and recovered quickly.
I've since learned that one of the great things about Reiki is you can perform it anywhere, anytime.
